STP blades build a better seed trench.
The Sabre Tooth Planter (STP) disc opener system is designed to improve seed trench quality and promote rapid root development and plant emergence. It's compatible with major planter brands and ideal for no-till.

Cut, turn, cover
STP blades cut through heavy residue, then turn and rotate the soil to create a well-granulated, moist environment that covers the seed. That's different from the traditional pinch-cut method, which often leads to hair-pinning, sidewall smearing and compaction below the furrow.
- AResidue hair-pinned into the trench
- BSidewalls smeared shut
- CSeed wedged in the point of the V
- DCompaction below the furrow
- AResidue cut and moved aside
- BMoist, granulated soil flows over the seed
- CSeed sits on a flat floor instead of lodging
- DSoil profile lifted and fractured, not packed

Why growers switch
Better seed-to-soil contact
The cutting and turning action lets moist, granulated soil flow directly over the seed, reducing the risk of rootless corn syndrome and uneven emergence.
A U-furrow, not a V
The U-shaped furrow prevents seed lodging and encourages uniform growth and early root development.
Less compaction
Lifting and fracturing the soil profile minimizes compaction and promotes capillary action for moisture retention.
Fewer add-ons
Reduce the need for extra seed-to-soil contact devices and other planter modifications.
Built heavier
At 4mm thick, STP blades are heavier than competitors' 3.5mm blades, for reliable performance season after season.
Made for tough conditions
Designed to reduce soil, climate, residue, yield and planter challenges across diverse farming environments.
Blade types
Standard STP blade
General-purpose planting across different soil types and conditions, with balanced performance for most crops.
Heavy-duty blade
Cuts through tough, heavy residue. Built for no-till and minimum-till operations where residue management is crucial.
Moisture-maximizing blade assembly
Lifts and fractures the soil profile to optimize moisture retention and promote even seed emergence.
